Hi, June here! It’s my first time back at work after a few weeks of vacation.
When I got here this morning, there were olive tree saplings all around the deck. Apparently Takasaki is running some sort of program to fill the city with olives. I don’t know the details, but some specialists came in to plant the trees for us. The leaves already smell like olives, and they’ll be ready to pick around the end of fall. I can’t wait to try adding them to our charcuterie board (the one with the Ticca Tocca ham that Jeff is always raving about).
Good olives are hard to find in Japan, and expensive, so it’s cool that we get grow our own.
