Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Hi everyone, it’s Jorge. Its three days past Christmas now, and I totally forgot to press Publish on the 25th. Whoops! How did you spend your Christmas? Did you take the day off to spend time with your family? Maybe you went on a date or were recovering from a hangover. Or perhaps you were working as usual. The weather was beautiful this morning, but now it’s starting to get a bit cloudy. I wonder if it will snow. While I’d love to see snowfall today, I worry about the roads tomorrow. Driving on fresh snow is nice, but once cars have driven on it, the snow can freeze and make driving difficult. Slipping and sliding while driving is super scary. I’ve lost control of my car twice while driving in the snow. Thankfully, I haven’t been in any bad accidents—just got spooked.
Snowy Driving Adventures
One incident happened in Kyushu, in Miyazaki. It suddenly snowed, and no one was prepared, leading to many accidents. I was lucky since I was driving very slowly, but I still lost control a bit. I had a similar experience in Hokkaido. This time, I smashed into a huge pile of snow. Luckily, I didn’t hit anyone or any buildings. Only my car took a little damage, and I was fine but scared. This was early in my time living in Hokkaido, and I learned to drive more carefully, especially after the sun comes out. The heat can melt the snow, revealing a hidden layer of ice. Locals told me that the best days to drive are cloudy days. It makes sense, but I love to see the sun! Being from Florida, even a little sunshine on a cloudy day makes me happy. How about you? Do you love sunny days too? Maybe cloudy days are better since it’s harder to get sunburned, but you should still wear sunscreen.
The Joy of Driving and Road Trips
I still love driving, even if it can be a bit scary sometimes. Long drives are the best, and road trips with friends are even better! We can play music and sing karaoke in the car. I’m always careful, of course! Having a friend in the passenger seat is great—they become your navigator and DJ. Plus, you can chat if you get bored. Since I often go on long drives alone, I make sure to prepare long playlists with different genres for different days. What kind of music do you listen to? I love talking about music, but let’s save that for another day, as it might get way too long.
