Hey, everyone! How’s life treating you these days? The weather has been quite pleasant lately—such a nice change from the relentless rain we endured earlier this week.
I finally had a chance to see some cherry blossoms this week—and this time, they were actually blooming! I took a bit of a gamble, though. I decided to walk to the nearest park, hoping it would have some beautiful sakura trees in full bloom. It was risky since I wasn’t entirely sure they’d be ready yet, but I figured since they weren’t blooming last week, this week might be the jackpot. Turns out, my timing was perfect!
The weather was stunning—blue skies, sunshine—but wow, was it windy! Crossing a bridge on the way to the park was like braving a wind tunnel. I clutched my phone tightly, afraid a gust might send it flying. I gritted my teeth and pushed through as fast as I could, eager to reach the park and its sakura.
Once there, I was greeted by the most breathtaking scenery. The cherry blossoms were at their peak, and I managed to capture some gorgeous photos. The park didn’t have any food stalls, but it was still lovely to stroll around and soak in the floral wonderland. Plus, the sunshine gave me a bit of a tan—a nice bonus!
Since I walked to the park, I treated myself to a sneaky beer while wandering among the flowers. I made sure to stay discreet—while drinking in public might be allowed, I didn’t want to set a bad example for the kids nearby. It was such a peaceful moment, enjoying the blossoms with a refreshing drink in hand.
After circling the park and savoring the scenery, I headed back home as the sun began to set. It was such a rewarding day. Surprisingly, the park wasn’t too crowded—perhaps because it was a weekday, even with many people on spring break.
I did see a few families taking pictures with freshly graduated students, which warmed my heart. It brought back memories of my teaching days, when graduation ceremonies dominated March. Elementary schools typically held theirs in the second week, junior high schools in the third, and high schools wrapped up the month. Depending on the region and timing, some students get to graduate with sakura in full bloom—a truly beautiful and memorable backdrop.
I assume most of the graduates I saw were from high school or university. It was wonderful to witness such a joyful milestone. Wishing them all the best!
How about you? Do you know anyone who recently graduated? Have you had a chance to see the cherry blossoms this year? Are they blooming where you are, or have they already started to fall? Sakura season is fleeting, so don’t miss it before it’s gone!
